Livonia's specialized preschool programs offer enriching and stimulating classroom experiences to eligible children while supporting each child's developmental needs. A team approach is used to ensure the delivery of comprehensive, individualized services for each child. Children must qualify for specialized programming, and may receive services through distinct program options. On-going assessment ensures appropriate programming and classroom placement.
All students who attend programs for special needs children are eligible under IDEA (Individuals With Disabilities Education Act). Support staff consisting of speech and language pathologists, school social worker and psychologist, physical therapist, occupational therapist, and teacher consultants are available.
Parents, guardians and caregivers are encouraged to attend scheduled sessions on child development, early learning, behavior management, health and safety, and more. These parent meetings, workshops and support groups are offered at various times throughout the school year.
